Match Preview: Liverpool vs Manchester United

Big Match Preview – Can Manchester United make a statement at Anfield??

The biggest game in football. Two cities. Cultures. Colour. Football. What more?? Titles, Legends, Red Cards, fights, flairs and many more. This rivalry has seen anything and everything. Now beckons the next chapter. The new dawn. The new season. This is a season defining game always. And in this season, there is no difference.

Manchester United travel 35 miles down the M62 to take on fiercest rivals Liverpool in a mouthwatering Premier League game. Liverpool haven’t had the best start to their PL season. They are already 7 points behind the Manchester Clubs. Whereas, on the other hand, Manchester United are flying, literally, flying. A record 22/24 beckons if United get one over their fiercest rivals.

MANCHESTER UNITED: Manager Jose Mourinho craves these games. He is the epitome of a big match manager. A winner who wants win at all costs. And for those kind of manager’s this is the game. They treat these games specially and want to win these in specific. The Special One is really special on days like this. He organises his team to counter. And with a Striker with pace like Lukaku and Forward line with pace and creativity, this is the best chance Manchester United have to dominate at Anfield after a long time.

How the team lines up?? David De Gea of course in goal!! Last time we were at Anfield he made THE save of last season. Expect Mourinho to go with 3 at the back. Jones Bailly and Smalling is who I have chosen. Again, Jose looks to defend first attack next in these games. So, to add solidity and cover when we go on a counter, expect 3 at the back. Valencia and Young to be wingbacks. Young has been a revelation in the left side of defense. He has acquainted himself brilliantly there and has the quality to do well against Salah. Valencia is a real beast who has defended as well as attacked quite astonishingly. Matic and Herrera should be the pair in Central Midfield. This is where the game could be won. Matic has been powerful and his passes to start attacks is just brilliant. Herrera’s energy is a boost and it improves the speed in transition.

With Fellaini and Pogba injured, this is the best pair I can think of. Mkhi should start in the hole behind the strikers. Mkhi started the season brilliantly. Assists galore. But has gone quiet ever since Pogba’s injury happened. But expect him to put on a special performance tomorrow. Lukaku is a BARGAIN!! Whatever you want to argue you argue. But that fellow looks a bargain. Goals, goals and goals. Even when he came off the bench in the game against Cyprus for Belgium he scored. So he is an asset. But this is first “REAL” test. He is off criticised for not scoring more against the “TOP” PL sides. Here is his chance. Rashford should start alongside him. Martial has improved massively from last season. He would have warranted a starting place at any other Premier League club. But Rashford’s ability to strike fear with pace and his knowledge on these games makes him a starter.

PLAYER TO WATCH OUT FOR: ROMELU LUKAKU. man has been fire ever since he signed. So expect him to be the trouble for Liverpool come Saturday afternoon.

LIVERPOOL: Jurgen Klopp’s two years in charge of Liverpool has definitely improved them. But still their defense is shambles. Their Midfield is not world class. It simply isn’t working for Klopp as he could not get both his targets for both those positions. But he did well to keep Coutinho. That should help as he has Mane out for 6 weeks. A lack of a Fox in the Box will haunt them. PLAUER TO

WATCH OIT FOR: PHILLIPE COUTINHO. He still wants to go to Barcelona. And these are the games to show his worth that he is ready for a club like Barcelona. Score Prediction : Liverpool’s 0- 2 Man Utd. Last meeting: 1-1 Old Trafford.
