MATCH REVIEW: MANCHESTER UNITED VS BURTON ALBION
Manchester United are through to the Round Of 16 in the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils thrashed Burton Albion 4-1 at the Old Trafford to make the progress.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were immense on a night when Manchester United showed swagger and style. Here, we would be reviewing the Carabao cup game.
As stated in the Preview, Jose Mourinho made 9 changes in the Manchester United 11 with Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford the only ones retaining their place.
The crowd at Old Trafford was scintillating and supported the fringe first team players to maximum.
It was like watching Manchester United of old, as there was effort to attack and score throught the game with the Old Trafford crowd really motoring the players.
Out of the first 11, The 4 attackers were just outstanding. Anthony Martial played probably his best night of football in the past 1 year. He looked like a man on a mission to save his United career.
Jose has a good selection headache. Juan Mata played brilliantly in his first appearance at the NO.10 position this season. With Mkhitaryan being just as brilliant, good luck to Jose on who he selects at 10 next game.
Jesse Lingard had a great game as well and got an assist and deserved although lucky goal.
Marcus Rashford excelled in his first start as a striker this season.
Coming to midfield, I simply don’t know why Ander Herrera is moving into the final year of his contract, the Spanish is extremely effective on his days and as the days move on in the season, he could be a big influence just like last season.
Carrick was just as silky as he has always been and played a part in the goals as well.
Defensively, it was a decent performance as there was no major test.
Victor Lindelof just does’nt look defensively stable, but he is great on the ball as usual.
The Left Full Back’s position is still there for the taking. And Shaw, if he can show some form he can definitely be the player who can effectively be played as first choice in that particular position.
Romero was largely untested. Joel Periera was culpable for the goal as it was his mistake that lead to the goal.
MAN OF THE MATCH:
Anthony Martial looked like he could be the world class replacement for Ronaldo we have been craving for. He just ripped into the Burton Albion defence and was a 10/10 to me.
Burton came into the game with a plan to be in the game for as long as possible but after that plan was broken in 4 minutes, they just got nowhere from there.
Lloyd Dyer got a consolation in the 90th minute after the game had been put to the bed by United.
